Tomatoes from the Garden Salad with Fresh Mozzarella

Welcome to Our Sunday Café, we are pleased you stopped by for a visit. Today we are offering another delicious recipe from our kitchen. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did…

We were given a gift of delicious homegrown tomatoes. Lovely tomatoes, of every color imaginable. Take a look here.....speaking for myself, I am not sure there is a more lovely sight than a platter of homegrown heirloom tomatoes.

You can't beat homegrown tomatoes!
We have been eating them steady, just slice is wonderful, I must say and this particular dish has graced my lunch pail on many a day.

Tonight my husband had an evening appointment, so dinner was a bit late. Late calls for light. Enter this delicious platter of tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, basil, and balsamic vinegar. Add some fresh ground pepper and we shall call this dinner!

Tomatoes from the Garden Salad with Fresh Mozzarella. Sometimes the best salads, are the simplest.

serves 2 - 4

4-6 tomatoes of different colors and sizes - homegrown if possible (they are so delicious!)
1 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese ball, slice in half and then into thin slices (half-moon shapes)
fresh basil leaves
Balsamic vinegar
salt and pepper

Slice the tomatoes and arrange them on a large plate or platter. Tuck the cheese slices between the sliced tomatoes.

Scatter the basil leaves over the top. Drizzle with vinegar and give a dusting of salt and pepper.
