So it’s full steam ahead to sharing a great recipe for you to enjoy every day during these very busy days of December……this season, eat well, be happy and celebrate with those you love!

A pot of chives is your best friend, especially in the winter. They are equally at home in the ground outside as a terra cotta planter, with good drainage. Keep them in a sunny spot and snip as needed for fresh flavor, year-round.  

Along with the chives, lemons are also a good friend to the cook in the kitchen. Lemons are available through the winter and the zesty excited flavor they offer is wonderful. We tend to eat meals that are heavier to get us through the cold days of winter, but they can also be bright with flavor. The brighter the better I say!

When you have a simple to prepare sauce such as this one, you will return to it often. It makes a wonderful salad dressing, a pleasant dunk for crispy veggies and even a nice sandwich spread, especially turkey...

Originally I developed this to go along with cooked artichokes, but it is too versatile and flavorful to save for that one use. You certainly can play around with this formula changing out lemon juice for lime, honey for sugar and by using different flavors of mustard. I hope you give this a try...it is quite delicious!

Lemon and Chive Sauce and Dressing  
by the seat of my pants!
makes a generous 1/2 cup

1/2 c mayonnaise
2 t mustard - I used some homemade mustard lurking in the fridge, even simple ballpark style mustard is delicious
1 T lemon juice
1 1/2 t sugar or honey
1 T finely snipped chives

Combine until smooth, to serve, pour into a shallow dish, decorate with knotted chives, enjoy with vegetables, salad and sandwiches. Or store in a covered jar until needed.
